Testing & Certification

Proving it. On the record.

THOM is moving from prototype to a validated commercial product. Six accredited workstreams are underway to take every performance claim from design target to certified status — fire, thermal, acoustic, weather and structural.

Evidence before claim

Designed first. Tested next. Published when proven.

01

The programme

Six accredited workstreams, each with its current status published.

Workstream 01

Reaction to Fire

EN 13501-1 route
Underway

BRE reference P132949. ISO 1716 calorific testing is the first step, followed by the appropriate A1/A2 classification route on the aluminium-led assembly.

Workstream 02

Fire Resistance

EN 1364-1
Underway

A separate workstream from reaction-to-fire, establishing the system’s EI fire-resistance performance.

Workstream 03

Whole-Panel Thermal

ISO 8990 guarded hot box
Underway

Accredited whole-panel testing to confirm the R50 basic and R110 high-performance configuration targets.

Workstream 04

Acoustic

ISO 10140
Underway

Accredited sound-insulation testing to establish the system’s airborne and impact performance.

Workstream 05

Weather / Water

Controlled test route
Underway

Weather-tightness and water-management validation on the assembled panel system.

Workstream 06

Structural / Wind

Project / market route
Underway

Structural, wind and regional code requirements mapped to the final production configuration and target markets.

The rule

A claim only becomes a claim when the evidence supports it.

Targets, testing, validation and certification remain distinct throughout the programme.

02

Our standard

Targets, testing, validation and certification are kept distinct — so a claim only becomes a claim when the evidence supports it.

01
Designed, then measured
Performance is engineered first, then confirmed through accredited whole-panel testing — not inferred from material datasheets.
02
Whole-system evidence
Results are measured on the assembled panel, not the individual material, so interfaces and joints are part of the number.
03
Configuration-specific
Each result is tied to the exact product version and test configuration it applies to.
04
Project-level compliance
BREEAM, LEED, Passivhaus and building-code compliance depend on the full project and are assessed at building level.

Performance figures shown across this site are design targets; accredited certification testing is underway. No achieved A1/A2 fire classification, certified whole-panel R/U value, or numerical acoustic rating is published until the relevant evidence is complete.
